HIGHSCHOOL MISSION TO GITWE GIRLS-KIAMBU

We had our first ever H.O.T high school mission at the Gitwe Girls High School in Kiambu on 2nd November 2014. This happened to be a day when the out-going Christian Union leaders were handing over power to their juniors and therefore we were privileged to witness as well as participate in such a colorful ceremony. The speaker for the day was our very own Kelvin Obonyo whose sermon was derived from John 12:24 -"Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds".

With relevant examples and real life testimonies, Kelvin was able to explain how one can die to self and so allow Jesus Christ to live in her.

2ND ANNUAL H.O.T SPORTS FESTIVAL

Our 2nd  Annual Sports Festival was held on 18th October 2014 at the Stima Members' club, located off Thika Superhighway. This fun-filled day saw members come in different styles and colors and with their best smiles, they enjoyed every game lined up for the day. The games included caterpillar race, football, swimming, wheelbarrow race and athletics. At the end of all this, team white emerged as winners and were awarded certificates in recognition of their outstanding performances in all the games.

The day's theme was built around 'PERSEVERANCE' and it was clearly shown through the sports that with perseverance, we can get to the highest of heights.

WAKE UP-NO EXCUSES

Proverbs 22:13

A lazy man is full of excuses.  "I can't go to work!" he says. "If i go outside, i might meet a lion in the streets and be killed. 

Most of us have lives that are full of excuses. You complain of not having bus fare but you have legs.  Things will only start moving the moment you start living life as if you had no other option.

Are we not serving the same God Samson served? The one who gave him strength to kill a lion with his bear hands? (Judges 14:5). 

Have you also forgotten the story of Daniel? When God protected him in a den full of hungry lions?  (Daniel 6:16)

The problem with us is that we continuously allow excuses to write off our success.

 

David talks about the Lord being His shepherd, giving him strength to walk through the valley of the shadow of death. (Psalms 23)

Try re-evaluating yourself today and find out who your shepherd is. Is it 'Excuses' or the true living God. if it is the true living God, then remember that He has "given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you." (Luke 10:19)

"My word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." (Isaiah 55:11). This verse is a reassurance that every word He spoke concerning our lives will come to pass in Jesus name. If He said He will bless us, then He will surely bless us. But remember that you have to move out of your comfort zone. Move out of your bed even if you don't have bus fare. Let God find you at the bus station.
